3 years and counting
May the 10th was my 3 year wedding anniversary with the man.. we dined at The Press Club and I was embarrassed with a huge delivery of flowers to my office... hopefully his present arrives soon!

... today was spent in the city doing training with sparrows, blueberry muffins and coffee.
... then I lunched with my bestie and reveled in the special present she bought me <3 love you twinnie!

Axil Coffee Roasters
Hi benny followers! apologies for my lack of blogging over the past couple of weeks but its been very busy in the house of benny but I'll share that news with you all soon!
Si and I are always looking for new and trendy cafes and restaurants to sample their food and coffee, so imagine our excitement when a fab new cafe opened just down the road from us! This weekend Axil Coffee Roasters opened their doors and shared with the Eastern suburbs a menu comprised of well thought-out dishes and ah-ma-zing coffee! I'm going to go out on a limb and say- the best coffee I've had in Melbourne so far!
Our excitement was clearly shared by the rest of Hawthorn as the line of keen critics was constant, but owner Dave was well prepared and personalised every single customer's experience. Sure we had to wait 15 minutes for a table (to be expected on an opening weekend without a booking) but the time went swiftly as Dave took the time to continuously update us on the wait and even offered us coffee. I hope that kind of service continuous through the life of the cafe because it's not a trait you see often!
Let's skip ahead now to the food. Again it was a 35 minute wait but this was not an issue as the decor and crowd were entertaining enough to see us through. The staff seemed to handle the rush well and considering that this weekend was their first the kitchen managed well also. I had the Eggs Benedict. It comprised of a chewy poppy seed bagel with house smoked ham ( Amazing), two runny poached eggs finished with a creamy hollandaise sauce. A simple and staple dish of most breakfast menu's but a well placed one! Si had sourdough toast topped with smashed seasoned avocado with a poached egg. Pretty sure it took him less than 5 minutes to finish it! a good sign!
So if you are around the Hawthorn area I suggest you add Axil Coffee Roasters to your 'must visit' list as it's a place we will be returning to regularly! Love it!

RAFW Day 2 Continued
Manning Cartel has sucked me in with their take on the ever chic French inspired stripe. Pair this with two of the hottest colours this season- mustard yellow and burnt ochre red and you have a killer look. Expect swarms seeking the sporty night print bikini/ tankini and the gold tailored pencil pantalones. SWOON!
Little Joe's SS 2011/2012 is night minx meets D&G Catholic girl gone bad with models adorning oversized cruifixes and chocker necklaces. LJ has shown us that the ankle boot is here to stay, pairing sand coloured tan heels with mid thigh minis. These are the garments you would skip into after a long day at the beach for a hot night out! Hair is tousled and and 'undone' echoing the salt beach look with a grey black smokey eye.
Therese Rawsthorne's collection this season beckon's us lose ourselves in the prarie with models adorning chignon buns and painted lips. This collection is a true echo of spring with flowers pinned and weaved into many of looks.

RAFW Day 2
Karla Spetic has stormed into summer with a bash and clash of contrasting hues. Another well wisher of tangerine further strengthens my excitement in the fruity colour and sets it on fire when paired with punchy prints.
Lover's hot white whimsey is amped up with bold statements of crimson cherry dresses. Flash a cherry melon leather skirt softned with a nude chiffon shirt and if you are not confident to pop your cherry throw on a cute pair of their crimson ankle booties instead!
