THE TIME HAS COME... Pt 1: Benny's Quest for Balance

This month has been financially ridiculous. Actually the last three months have been utterly disastrous! I've spent the last day reviewing my recent purchases and low bank balance and now realise that it’s time to utter the words many women fear. Shopping- ban. I just died a little bit inside, I really did.

Many have walked this road before, and I am about to do the same, but publicly. I figure rather than begin this expedition alone where I will more than likely fail due to my lack of self-conviction, I will publicly announce my quest and hope with the fear of condemnation I will stick to it.

Don’t get me wrong, I'm not a shopaholic, well not in the realms of the Girl with the Green Scarf anyway (Confessions of a Shopaholic) but I do have a habit of spending money on random things. Coffee here, impulse Kmart purchase there, and before I know it I'm down to my last few dollars and reviewing what I could have done with the spare change.

Ok so I need to set up some rules and exclusions, obviously there are necessities that one MUST have. Toiletries, food, makeup (foundation), lunch snacks, the occasional coffee, chewing gum. NO NO NO- getting off track. No coffee or chewing gum. Unfortunately I will commit to paying bills, wish I could cut them out, bugger!

At the end I plan to have a healthy bank balance and the potential to have a real shopping spree. Ok, maybe no shopping spree, but some kind of treat for my hard efforts.

My expedition begins tomorrow, Monday the 22^nd of August and will end on the 22nd of October- YES I will be sticking to my pledge for TWO MONTHS! To commemorate this significant event in my life I will pay tribute with a series of shopping photography… wish me luck, I need it!
