2012 Astrology

For Christmas my housemate and best friend bought me "The Book of Love'. The book talks about different methods used over the ages to help with finding your true love. This book instantly became one of my favourites and has further deepened my interest in Astrology. Of late a typical conversation for me when meeting new people is to question them on their Star sign, and while most are quick to tell me they don't believe in it, it doesn't take much for the classic traits of their signs to be recognised and for the individual to admit some truth to this ancient method.

I find the concept of Love Compatibility with Star sings especially intriguing and find a wealth of truth in their readings.

So in celebration of the New Year and my new found hobby I would like to share with you some 2012 Horoscope forecasts. I hope that they bring you good fortune! Of course I will be starting with mine, Cancer.

Cancer

Life

You’ve come a long way since October 2009 and you are almost at the end of a long planetary cycle. Saturn has given you some of your toughest moments but in the process he has and will continue to make you stronger. Pluto opens the door to profound change, first and foremost in your thinking (we’ll talk about relationships in a moment), while Uranus pulls out the rug from beneath your feet sealing off old, familiar paths. Your wings are nearly fully formed and by autumn at the latest you will be flying high. Indeed, this may translate quite literally in that 2012 is the year of the decade for travel. You may not want to hear this but your greatest asset is your ability to stand alone and to be fearless in your choices. With courage comes conquest. Whether in regard to your love life, your career or finance, it is the most controversial route that is the right one. Put these dates in your diary: 6th May, 29 June and 29th September - on or near these times your greatest opportunities will appear.

Love

Born between 28 June and 1 July? Fasten your seat belts! You’re on love’s big dipper. If you’re single expect to meet partners who are totally different from the norm. Relationships will not go according to plan but if it’s true love all the obstacles will melt away. And this sentiment can be applied to established relationships that are experiencing difficulties, as well as new ones. Infidelity is an issue you may have to deal with, and only you can decide whether a relationship is worth fighting for. And such decisions may well have to be made in August. Indeed, this is a stand-out month for love and romance – the best time to meet and make long-term commitments, and the right time to part. 2012 is not a year for compromise. You will find yourself saying, “life is short” on many occasions, with the result that you make more than one now-or-never move.

Money

You know that old cliché – you-have-to-speculate-to-accumulate? It has never been more appropriate. You have a good business mind and are one of the most creative signs, and in the current climate you can do really well with entrepreneurial projects. By making use of IT, TV and social networks a small endeavour can scale great heights. The corporate field is another matter altogether, however. Especially if you are in the 28th June-1st July birthday group or that of 15-21 July uncertainties hover over jobs, whether you yourself are seeking change or companies are looking to downsize. The final quarter of the year will ease problems related to property, ease finances all round. However, there is no magic bullet in 2012. No one is giving money away and if you can, you should keep a quantity of cash ‘under the mattress’ or at least avoid putting all your capital into one basket.

Aries

You’ve probably noticed something of a pattern going on: you have a plan or an opportunity arises, which has a great start then something weird happens, or, rather, doesn’t happen, and you’re back to square one. This trend is a reflection of Uranus in your sign, Pluto in the zone of ambitions and Saturn influencing other people’s role in your life. You will have more lucky breaks in 2012, and one of them could come in mid-March, but in many cases it’s having the persistence to keep knocking at that door and not expecting favours from those who are in a position to help. You will get there by your winning personality and talent. The gains are to be made in knowledge and experience – some Arians could receive an award or an important qualification – and your voice will carry further. You could also do a lot more travelling in 2012, especially in the second half of the year. You may not see the progress you’re making but you’ll be standing on the top of the pile when others are falling off their plinths.

Love

That theme of patience is playing long and loud in your love life too. Saturn has a matter of months left to show you the value of waiting for Mr or Ms Right, until October to make you see that needing someone is not the same as loving them, which requires losing your attachment thereby allowing love to flow freely. (Nothing freezes out love more than fear.) Saturn is known as the lord of karma, so we meet our match under the influence of this planet. Thus, 2012 is another bumper year for Arian engagements and marriages. And, with Venus in your sign for Valentine’s Day, plus the fact that it is a leap year, you could be the one doing the proposing! Some Arians, of course, are working their way out of a long-term relationship, in which case, these dates could prove pivotal: 23rd -29th March, 27th -30th June, 29th September, and Christmas. Indeed, these dates are turning points in general for Aries.

Money

Jupiter will be transiting the money zone until June, beefing up your bank account and making you a very bankable proposition so get over those minor upsets and grievances: you have wood to chop and investments to make. A major career move is on the cards for some Arians, one that will add to your prestige and give you a bigger pay-check. Mid-March is a premium period for getting ahead, and the past has a role to play. You will be working very hard in 2012 but you know what Andrew Carnegie said: the harder I work, the luckier I get. A change of location may be necessary for a few, even working in a foreign country. You may also be invited to teach or advise. One way or another, you’ll be widening your influence. Even in the event of a professional or financial glitch, you’ll quickly replace what has been lost. Nature loves a vacuum

Taurus

Life

On Christmas Day, 2011, Jupiter gets back in business encouraging you to think big and expect the best. This planet of growth and achievement will remain in your sign until mid-June, so don’t lose a moment in implementing those great plans of yours. There is an element of luck operating in your life: a case of right timing for some, for others it’s all about meeting the right person, and for a few just when you think it’s all gone pear-shaped, there will be a turn-around. Mid-May is one of the key periods of 2012, as is mid-March - do not let a golden opportunity slip through your fingers, or be put off by a rejection. On 5 October, Saturn moves into opposition, presenting you with challenges yet helping you make your mark. It will take more time to achieve your goals from this point so please make your leaps of faith earlier in the year.

Love

Love does not come with guarantees. Some of the most unlikely unions turn out to have what it takes and ones that seem near-perfect collapse at the first fence. With this in mind, stop putting your lover through hoops or waiting for someone to disappoint you. If you feel the love, set it in stone! On and around 5th March and 12th May, wedding bells may be heard. Saturn’s arrival in the zone of relationships (October) sends two totally different messages: on the one hand, it’s time for marriage and, on the other, it marks the beginning of a two-year period in which relationships take a lot of work. Either way, the ten months prior to October should be spent shoring up weak areas of a relationship – the mid-November period could send a relationship either way - and, if you’re single, making an effort to meet that special person. Use that Jupiter energy to bring Mr or Ms Right into your life.

Money

When it comes to money and work, you will not be able to point the finger at your stars for failing to deliver the goods. Jupiter’s passage through the zone of self-worth from June 2012 – June 2013 boosts your earning power, helps you make good investments (property is a real growth area for you) and generally find enrichment. Have the confidence of your business plan and your talents – they won’t fail you. Foreign companies and jobs that involve travel are positive themes for Taurus this year. And if you’re thinking of starting a business or going self-employed, mid-March could be the perfect time. October and November, however, may produce some bumps in the road, so be sure to have a safety-net and a Plan B to fall back on. Otherwise, 2012 is the year of the decade for you – all round.

Gemini

Life

The times they are a-changing. On 3 February, Neptune arrives at the Mid-heaven of your solar chart, subtly shifting the shape and content of your life. You may already have begun to question the value of material rewards - embracing planet-saving policies or helping ease the plight of the suffering – and in the process your priorities are changing. Things of the heart and the spirit take precedence. Even bigger changes will follow in the coming years, as you simplify your existence. This having been said, with Jupiter’s entry into Gemini (11 June) the following twelve months are ones of expansion. You’ll see a lot more of your world, in terms of travel and experience, and you’ll add to your reputation, even have your 15 minutes of fame. Put a ring around these dates: 19th February, 20th May and 28 November for it is at these times the potential for dreams to manifest or for fate to step in and change your course is at its strongest.

Love

2012 sees yet more eclipses highlighting the zone of relationships, so this is another year when sudden and unexpected events affect your love life. This year, however, the effects of Venus transiting your sign for almost five months (3rd April – 7th August) and Jupiter’s presence in Gemini could prove magic. This is the time to fall in love, marry or remake your vows, and the new moon of 19 June looks to be highly significant here. Clearly, there will be some Geminis for whom the path of true love continues to be somewhat stony but these beautiful influences could work instead on you. By which I mean you will discover the great truth in the notion that you have to love yourself in order to find love with someone else. If a relationship appears to cool or experiences a downturn in mid-May, distance could be the very thing to set matters to right. As you know, you can never lose someone who is your destiny, and by the end of June you’ll have your answer.

Money

As I mentioned earlier, Neptune is affecting your goals and priorities, and during the next few years many Geminis are going to give up their chosen profession and channel their talents in directions they feel to be more fulfilling, possibly altruistic, healing or artistic avenues. Especially if you have a May birthday, 2012-2014 brings many life changes, some of which are a product of the global economic situation and others inspired by your needs and desires. Jupiter’s passage through your sign (11 June, 2012 – 25 June, 2013) is a blessing. Make your boldest moves and stock-pile resources because you will not get such opportunities again – at least for another decade. Try to become as self-sufficient as you can: not every institution – banking or commercial – is going to survive 2012, and not every promise will be kept. Don’t leave those big decisions too late. It would be good to have your ducks in a row by mid-October.

Leo

A general upward trend began slowly towards the end of 2011 and it will be in full swing by February, 2012. Your role in life is under auspicious influences, which, for some Leos, will translate as professional success, even fame, and a change in status – parent, spouse or grandparent – for a few, and in all cases a sense that you are finally on the right track. Friendships and collaborations are likely to figure in the year’s highlights, and the period around 14th May could show you why. Always a creative individual you will tend to be more detail and research oriented this year, possibly taking a study course, and it will be important to keep to the letter of the law in all your dealings. Indeed, a court case could be in the pipeline for a handful of Leos. Nothing to lose any sleep over, though. August and September are months especially worthy of mention in a year that sees you going from strength to strength.

With Neptune finally out of the picture there will be less confusion surrounding both working and romantic relationships. Those weird experiences - say, meeting someone who seems to think you are the ‘one’ then never hearing from him or her again, or your loving someone who is unattainable - will be a thing of the past, and you will be able to trust your heart again. To a certain extent, the more important trend for 2012 is getting your whole life - particularly your career and material world - on track, which means partners and potential mates have to be prepared to take second place. Nonetheless, some Leos will be tying the knot this year, in which case the New Year and the period around Valentine’s Day are looking ideal. You’re back on your feet, Leo – don’t give it all away: partners must match you on all levels.

Money

Make the most of the first half of the year when Jupiter will be boosting your confidence and career hopes. People in positions of power and influence could take you under their wing, and self-promotion should achieve real results. While you need people to support you and your talents, getting them to put their money where their mouth is may prove another matter altogether: any deals or partnerships must be made as solid as solid can be. There is a slight possibility that a company or an individual with whom you have financial interests could let you down so do not put all your monetary eggs in one basket. Saturn’s arrival in the home zone in October could affect property matters, whether it will take longer to sell a home or business, or there are family reasons that clip your wings. Nonetheless, 2012 remains a year of overall growth for you.

Virgo

Do you have dreams? More importantly, do you believe in your dreams? Bringing your vision into reality is the theme for 2012. I’m also going to say: be careful what you dream of... Some of the most important events that take place this year will be the result of your unconscious desires. Neptune, the planet of magic, miracles and illusion will move into your opposite sign on 3rd February, making its most important aspects – and therefore revealing its most mysterious potential – on or near 19th February, 20th May, 30th August, 14th and 28th November. Jupiter, the planet of increase arrives on your Mid-heaven in early June, and for the following twelve months should add to your happiness and success. You’ll make many journeys in 2012, both in terms of miles and experience, so right from 1st January, throw out those old belief systems, along with anything gathering dust, and prepare for a new and very different year.

Did we mention Mars? If your rocket ship to the stars is stuck on the launch pad, this sexy, feisty planet is just what you need – and you have it in your sign until July. Normally, the soul of discretion, passion directs your course in 2012. You’ll have the courage to leave ‘bad’ relationships and the confidence to take a risk on the strength of being madly in love. The partners of a few Virgos could go through a difficult and dispiriting patch, and it will be your job to take over the reins and supply an enormous amount of love and support. The theme of believing in your dreams is to be heard playing loudest in the area of love and relating, so while having the faith to keep going in trying circumstances will eventually be rewarded, you will have to be sure that you are not blinding yourself to a reality that everyone else can see.

Money

2012 has a totally different dynamic to it. You may already have discovered that playing safe is not always the best solution, whether you’ve left it too late to find another job or undersold your talents. Learn to read the signals employers and people of importance are sending you: they will be subtle. Have confidence in your abilities, and don’t wait for someone to make the first move – mid-September is a superb time to launch new projects, and for opportunities to arise out of the blue. Other periods of importance include late May/early June and late November/early-December. You’ll have to be a little wary of business partnerships – cover yourself at every turn – and you must be tough in negotiations. Over the next eighteen months, Jupiter will prove a considerable help to your career, finances and your future all round: almost the only factors standing in the way are you and your self-deprecation!

Libra

Life

Your term of trial is in its final stages. Saturn exits your sign on 5 October, leaving you an infinitely wiser person; eventually you’ll be richer too – and in every sense of the word. Material increase and personal rewards come your way, especially if you’re prepared to leave your comfort zone and distance yourself from people who have hung onto your coat-tails, thereby impeding your growth. Pluto and Uranus will be focusing their energies on the 24th - 29th September birthdays, but if fate appears to be taking you by the hand, you know where to point the finger. People from other countries play a bigger role in your life, whether for work, friendship or romance, and some Librans will be making the move of a lifetime. The home and family front are another focus for the main events of the year. 2012 may not be easy – late March/early April, late June and late September are a case in point – but you will make huge progress.

Uranus is not the gentlest of influences in the zone of the relationships but he does get you moving. In some cases, this means finally acquiring the momentum to propose (this is a Leap Year, and romantic Venus will be in the seventh house for Valentine’s Day...) or getting the courage to break the Gordian knot! Throw out the rule book, don’t worry about other people’s opinions: it’s your life. Clearly, Saturn requires you meet your responsibilities but that doesn’t mean sacrificing everything. Learn to listen to the voice of your heart. Some Librans will meet a future partner in a foreign land or in a place of learning and antiquity, and there is an even stronger trend for mixed cultural mergers and wide age-gaps. February and November are key months for romance and relationship developments, and if you do decide 2012 is the year to tie the knot, how does 9th October sound?

Money

Saturn issues a note of caution regarding finance. Investment in your talents, whether by financing your own business or acquiring extra skills, is indicated, if not to be encouraged, but this is no time to leave yourself without a safety-net. Have a cash float to counter any potential upsets in the banking systems. Money will be in short supply in 2012, making borrowing more difficult. Your job could take you away from home territory and, if you’ve not already done so, promoting yourself and your work via websites/social networks is at a premium. For a few Librans, an inheritance or a generous settlement is on the agenda, and even though there is a degree of unpredictability to contend with 2012 is a good year to form business partnerships.

Scorpio

Life

Life may not be perfect but it’s pretty good with Jupiter in the driver’s seat. You need to recognize when someone or something is an asset, and instead of fretting about those things that will not fall into the palm of your hand, build on what you have. Likewise, don’t put off making an important move until you feel it is the ‘right’ time: the first six months of 2012 are the right time. Take on a challenge, stretch your boundaries and you will be setting yourself up for the future. On 5th October, Saturn enters your sign for a two-year transit: this planet is synonymous with a harvest: you get to see the results of years of efforts. There is always a learning curve with Saturn – it exposes the weaknesses in your life but it also rewards the strengths. The total solar eclipse of 13th November is another key astrological event of 2012, whether you yourself make some mighty decisions on or near this date or fate presents you with a fate-accomplis!

You are in the middle of a boom period for Scorpio nuptials and major relationship developments. If you met someone in 2011 a wedding could lie ahead, and should your love life be in shreds, don’t lose heart – Jupiter and Venus are helping you find your way to that special person. March is outstanding in its capacity to bring people together and to set the stage for happy romantic events. It is not exactly a race but you should aim to set relationships on a solid course before the end of September. After this point, your plate could be full of other things and life is will be a little more unpredictable. The full moon of 6 May could play a big part in your love life, whether it marks an ending or a beginning; likewise, the total solar eclipse in Scorpio (13 November) could prompt events of a life-changing nature, especially if your birthday falls around that date.

Money

February begins a new and important cycle for you. Neptune has dogged your career and finances for far too long, and as 2012 progresses you will gain a firmer foothold on the ladder of success. Other people will champion you and your talents, and in a competitive situation you should be in the winners’ circle. Any losses or disappointments will be quickly overcome, and you should see any set-backs as divinely inspired. Growth could be impressive – both on the financial and professional front – but by October, progress could slow down, and there will be more obstacles in your path. Ideally, you need to stockpile your resources way before this time, and at the first sign of a problem, whether in relation to your personal situation or the global economy, take appropriate action.

Sagittarius

2012 is an inspiring year, by which I mean, you will experience powerful impulses that send you off on new and diverse tangents. You may change career course, begin a creative enterprise, go half-way round the world for a new-found passion or suddenly, and for no clear reason, become disenchanted with your life, with no idea how to fix it. Inspiration and disillusion stem from Neptune’s arrival at the base of your horoscope – the very roots of life. In stark contrast, from June onwards, Jupiter will be in a premium position, creating fabulous opportunities and expanding your life in the best of ways. There could be some extraordinary twists of fate, especially around 20th May, 4th June and 28th November, and although you cannot act with impunity, you will feel that you are being guided and protected. Children are also a special focus for 2012. As to why, you’re just going to have to wait and see.

A year with three eclipses on the relationship axis and Jupiter’s presence in the seventh house spells e-v-e-n-t-f-u-l. Never one to hold back, if you’re pushed too far this year, you’ll snap, and if you find the passion of a lifetime, you won’t care what you have to do to keep it. Talk about burning bridges... Venus, the planet of love, will spend five months in the zone of relating (April through July) so you cannot blame the planets for failing to deliver; the caveat being that if your love life does not need fixing, nothing will change. Good people will enter your life in 2012, whether they become great friends, amazing supporters or turn out to be the love of your life. However, you must be careful not to throw everything up for someone who is secretive about their past or unwilling to introduce you to friends and family. It’s one thing to be divinely in love; another to lose your sense of self and your shirt!

Money

You are the great entrepreneur of the zodiac, so should you be in a corporate situation or a 9 till 5 job, don’t be surprised if you become increasingly frustrated with your lot. 2012 is the year to take a chance, provided you have the talent and the passion to follow it through. And should events conspire to close off an avenue of income, be very philosophical about it: with Jupiter on side you will replace what you have lost – and in spades. Finance and property are tricky areas for the whole zodiac but you seem to be in a pattern where a deal comes up that looks solid but falls apart at the last moment. There’s not a lot you can do about this, except, perhaps to put plans on hold for selling/purchasing a property, and refuse to commit yourself wholeheartedly to a financial project until the cheque-book is on the table. There is growth this year but you will have to marry your optimism and enthusiasm with reality.

One step at a time, and you’ll get there. In a way, this is always Capricorn’s strategy but these last couple of years have tested the most stalwart Goat, and you could be forgiven for doubting your judgement and your gifts. Set your sights on 2013 for the glittering prizes but 2012 is a more rewarding and productive year than the last two. It is no use clinging onto the past: whether you like it or not, people and patterns will fade from your life, and such events serve a much bigger purpose than you may appreciate at first. You know, deep in your heart, certain roads have come to an end, and events on or near 9th January, 15th July, 29th September and 26th December act as springboards to a new and brighter phase. Some Capricorns will be welcoming new arrivals into the family, whether by birth or marriage, and others will embark on an ambitious venture with friends; indeed one of 2012’s main trends is creativity in all its forms.

One of the pluses to a Jupiter transit of the fifth house is that it opens up the heart chakra. You may already have fallen profoundly in love or experienced a deepening connection with a partner but if not 2012 holds just such possibilities. Not only Jupiter but also Pluto and Uranus have the capacity to awaken you to the stirrings of your own heart so you should not be surprised if big changes occur in long-standing relationships. Remember, endings and beginnings are present in all areas of your life. Late June, mid-July and mid-August are times of both joy and turmoil but as long as you remain true to your heart, the right outcome will occur. It is said that we do not choose the people with whom we fall in love, but at some level we do. Whether you believe in karma or the power of the mind, we draw our lovers towards us. And if there is one thing that will become abundantly clear to you in 2012, it is this.

June begins one of the best phases for work of the last ten years. You may have more work than you can handle or you will get the appreciation and fulfilment you have been seeking. And if you’ve been job-hunting, you should find the perfect niche for your talents – late April/early May could prove pivotal here. Not every Capricorn is going to have a charmed life as far as career and finance go, but the potential for progress and success is high, and it may take a radical shake-up to get you on the right path. Especially if you have a birthday between 26th and 30th December, your life-direction is subject to some extraordinary highs and lows and unexpected U-turns. With the global economy in such a state of flux, you cannot rely on old institutions to keep delivering: spread your borrowing, think outside the box and act as soon as signals and signs appear.

Aquarius

You’ve had the vision now bring it into reality. Consider your own field of dreams: if you build it, he will come! For some Aquarians turning fantasy into fact means that after a long period of delays and uncertainty, you have the opportunity and the will to put together plans which can actually get off the ground. For others, it is more a case of having the faith and the self-confidence to start-over, whether in terms of relationships or personal and professional life. January and February are two of the most important months of 2012: what you set in motion then and the events that occur spontaneously take you where you need to go – notice the word need as opposed to want... Jupiter is on a mission to expand your life at root level, so additions to the family, home moves and domestic changes could be on 2012’s agenda. On 5 October Saturn begins a two-year occupation of the zone of material ambitions, reiterating that theme of dreams coming true but also exposing weaknesses wherever they might exist.

Romance is by its very nature unrealistic but without it life is very grey. The trouble is, there has been a little too much fantasy going on in your love-life over the past few years. This may have translated as rejections and betrayals or the inexplicable loss of former feelings; on the other hand, you may have fallen deeply in love and not been able to distinguish the real person from the projection. The good thing is this pattern is all but over: the problem is going to be enjoying the mundane aspects of a relationship without the heart-thumping anxiety of it all. Realism is the new romance! New Year brings changes: big plans for the future for some Aquarians; for others the understanding that a relationship is going to take a lot of work, and maybe it isn’t worth it. August and September are also months of eventfulness, and, in general, 2012 helps you come to terms with the reality of who you are, out of which will come relationships of integrity.

Now that you’re finding yourself, various parts of your life are going to have to change. With Saturn approaching the zone of career, as soon as cracks appear in working relationships or rumours begin about the future of your employment, you need to take action. This may mean broadening your skills in order to be more attractive to employers, or shoring up your professional connections. Either way, warning signs – or positive indications – should be taken seriously. The total solar eclipse of 13 November could coincide with a big job change so be sure to have your ducks in a row by that time. The first half of the year gives you more financial opportunities, and the sale or purchase of a property could be on the cards, and certainly advised. However, in this time of great global change, you will need to have flexibility and a nest egg

Pisces

Life

Set out the welcome wagon! Ruler, Neptune, enters your sign on 3rd February boosting your innate gifts but also generating doubts as to whether some of your life choices are as appropriate for you now as they were several years ago. In some cases, you may find situations that were once rock solid beginning to disintegrate; in others, there will be an increasing sense of dissatisfaction with certain aspects of your life. If these effects become noticeable, as well they might in mid-May, don’t fight the current of change but flow with it until it leads to a new shoreline. Metaphors aside, many Pisceans are in a huge period of transition, and trying to steer your way through will prove counter-productive. From June onwards, Jupiter adds to your joys on home turf, and there could be weddings in the family – or could that be yours? Saturn’s move to the 9th house of far horizons (5th October) will turn out to be a learning curve in the most literal sense with some Pisceans going ‘back to school’ and others adding to their knowledge and skills through their jobs and changes in location.

You begin the year with sexy Mars in the zone of relationships so a resurgence of romance is a definite maybe! And if your love life is less than exciting – even non-existent – don’t give up: this planet will help you conquer hearts until early July, and October is looking rather sparkly too. You may have to go far for love, which will translate as meeting someone special on a journey or in a foreign place, or having to put yourself out and your plans on hold for the sake of a partner. Long-standing relationships will benefit from a re-model – if it’s not working, change it: don’t let it wither on the vine. You have an innate capacity to fall in love and with Neptune in your sign that facility is quadrupled. This having been said, there is an equally strong trend for attaching yourself to people who do not match you and will fail to support you. The periods on or near 13th January, 18th February, 6th April, 20th May, 4th June and 14th November could play a big part in your love story.

Cast your net wide in 2012. The world will not come to your door – you have to get out of your comfort zone and take it!
