The Last of the Travel Diaries

know its been quite some time since I’ve posted anything about my trip but I fear that I was unable to express myself correctly and instead found myself overwhelmed with topics of conversation yet unable to write them in a manner that would provide any morsel of justice. My notebook is now filled with several half started entries and I will now do my best to make sense of my chicken scratch notes to provide you all with some insight of the last few weeks.

Let’s step back, momentarily to my last post. Now I was slightly surprised by the feedback I received from many of you with concerns relating to my intentions of making Greece my permanent address. Well those of you will be happy to know that I am currently on a flight from Athens to London to wrap up the remainder of my holiday and return back to Melbourne.

Ok, so back to the past few weeks…

My last entry was on Saturday the 4th of August, however I neglected to detail some events that occurred before. On Thursday the 2nd of August I ventured to the mainland to the town of Lefkada to explore and do some souvenir shopping. Lefkada is the main town in the region of Lefkas. It is said to be the only island in Greece accessible by road as a small opening bridge crosses the body of water between Lefkas and the mainland. Here I bought some bright orange nail polish (to enhance my tan) and some regional Lefkada cookbooks with traditional recipes of the area. I thought it would be good to master my heritage.

On Saturday night the 4th of August I again went to Precious Club with my old friend where the night was spent in many deep conversations and far too many mojitos (which I can no longer stomach. Said mojitos were alternated with shots of tequila accompanied by a lick of sugar and a slice of orange. This was one of my favourite nights out on the island and I often think of the events that occurred that night. Mixtures of classic Greek songs and English chart toppers heard under the warm balmy summer night.
